The slogan “Move On Over or We’ll Move On Over You” was a powerful statement of self-determination and a demand for political power for the Black community in a county that was over 80% Black but had virtually no Black registered voters. The phrase is associated with the Lowndes County Freedom Organization (LCFO), a civil rights organization in Lowndes County, Alabama, which was founded in 1965.

When my sadness dries up, and my body stops mourning the lack of my Mothers embrace, when my dreams stop being consumed by the hopes of her return, when all of the inner work that I’ve been doing for years finally starts paying off, I will never forget those who punished me for grieving.
I’ll never forget those who wrote me off, cancelled me out, stopped returning calls and simply disengaged because I was no longer valuable in their eyes. Expecting me to show up with the same intensity as I did before my world got turned upside down is a level of insanity I don’t need to subscribe myself to. But I’ll never forget those who refused to give me grace when I needed it the most.
People like me don’t linger in hard times forever. When the tables turn, because they’ve started to already, I will move forward with gate-kept energy. None of these people will ever get close to me again. Word to Jah.
Such eye opening times but I give thanks for the experience, because if I change my perspective to see the beauty in this season of life, I will realise that I’m simply rebirthing and in order for me to feel comfortable in my new surroundings, my community needs to be filtered.
The new year will bring forth new energy, a new feeling, a new start, and I get to enter a new chapter with the right people around me, a tribe I can vouch for as I welcome in a new me.
Those who have loved and lost, those who are grieving or who have grieved — will understand this post. Next March will be 4 years since my Mum transitioned back to the ancestors, and I’m finally getting back on my feet.
A controversy erupted in 2023 when a US consumer organisation, Consumer Reports, tested 28 dark chocolate bars for lead and cadmium. Eight of the offending chocolate bars were found to have “high” levels of cadmium, including one Lindt bar. A second Lindt bar was among a further 10 chocolate bars to contain lead. All 28 dark chocolate bars contained some degree of lead and cadmium… Cadmium is a chemical element that can lead to health problems with the kidney, liver and heart. Lead intake can cause problems with the nervous system, immune system suppression, kidney damage, and reproductive issues. However, a study published in June 2024 in Food Research International found that most dark chocolate products are safe for adults, while a small minority of those tested “may pose a slight risk” for younger children “who consume more than two bars a week”.

Donald Trump’s decisive election victory was about many things: a global rejection of incumbents, a rise in the Republican electorate and a battle for the future of America’s democracy. But voters consistently and repeatedly said issue No. 1 this election was the economy. That explains a lot about why Trump was reelected. By several major metrics, the US economy is on fire, the envy of the rest of the world. But Americans still viewed it unfavorably, and a significant number of voters blame President Joe Biden and Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, for failing to make enough improvements to Americans’ financial situations over the past four years. Poll after poll suggested that Americans hold largely negative views about the US economy. That’s because economic sentiment doesn’t always match up nicely with data that shows the economy is adding jobs, consumer spending is growing and gross domestic product — the broadest measure of the economy — continues to boom. When you pay through the nose for a cup of coffee or when you can’t afford to buy a home, those data are meaningless: You feel shut out of the American Dream.
